How It Works

1. Summon help

With a simple push of your Lifeline help button—tucked discreetly inside your clothes or worn outside—you’re connected to our response centre. If you have the HomeSafe with Fall Detection option, it automatically provides access to help if you fall and can’t push your button.

2. Hear a reassuring voice

A caring Lifeline Response Associate will quickly access your personal profile and assess the situation.

3. Get located with On-the-go

With On-the-Go, Lifeline pinpoints your location your mobile pendant. It uses up to four advanced technologies to determine where you are.

4. Know help is on the way

Our Response Associate contacts a neighbour, loved one, or emergency services—based on your preferences—and will follow up to make sure help has arrived.

Benefits

Affordability:

Lifeline is an affordable way to live on your own terms in your own home. It costs a little over a dollar a day, with no contract, added service, or cancellation fees. You can pay through pre-authorized debit or credit card.

Independence:

Independence: Lifeline supports independent living, which over 90% of older adults want to maintain. It's a resource that helps you safely age in place.

About Victoria Lifeline

  • Victoria Lifeline is a community service of the Victoria Hospital Foundation. It’s recommended by healthcare professionals and integrated into the healthcare system.
  • Proceeds from Lifeline are re-invested through the Foundation to advance healthcare in the hospital and community programs.
  • Victoria Lifeline has supported independent living since 1988 and now provide service to 350 Manitoba communities.
  • We take pride in installing Lifeline in your home and providing free, ongoing service and local support. Additionally, we offer the option of curb-side pick-up or free delivery with telephone support for installation.
  • Our only focus is medical alarms and our Personal Response Associates are trained to work with seniors and provide reassurance. In 2022, 53% of alarms requiring assistance were resolved without calling EMS. Our associates were able to call neighbours or loved ones for assistance.
  • Our Subsidy Program offers reduced rates for the Lifeline service for those who qualify.
  • I woke up one morning in February and I just felt weird. My shoulder felt funny and the feeling was spreading down my arm. I called to cancel a dental appointment and told the receptionist why I wasn’t coming. I also told her I had Lifeline in case of emergencies. She said to me, “Well push your button!” So I did. The Response Centre answered right away and immediately sent an ambulance to my home. When I got to the hospital the doctor told me I had a life-threatening blood clot. He said had I not pressed my button when I did and got to the hospital so quickly, I would not be here today. Now I tell all my friends if you live alone, you have to get Lifeline. They even call me Mrs. Lifeline!
